MRD: Lighting Design

With the arrival of the UBS Arena, new home for the New York Islanders ice hockey team, the design team was charged with crafting a welcoming space in the heart of the city that would capture the history of the Islanders while also showcase the arena’s premium hospitality spaces for high-end clients and investors.

MRD collaborated with the TPG & Goodrich team to bring this sophisticated space to light and showcase the best attributes of the space and the Islanders decorated past.

The entry sequence brought guests into a bar and lounge area, and then, through a curated procession, into a viewing room, a trophy room, and lastly a series of closing rooms.

MRD’s lighting design and expertise ensured a bespoke integration and detailing of the project’s lighting, and the creation of an elevated lighting design. We took care in ensuring that progressing through the small space was a transformative experience, while maintaining the constant of quality and attention to detail.
